The Fall Weather Has Arrived, So Get Out and Enjoy It!

September 26, 2018

The summers in Arizona can be pretty brutal. Sure, it may be a “dry heat,” but when you reach a certain temperature, it no longer really matters whether the air is dry or humid—it’s going to be far too uncomfortable to spend much time outside during the day.

But with the fall season having arrived and bringing cooler weather with it, there are now a lot more opportunities for you to spend longer periods of time outside in places other than the pool. Here are just a few outdoor activities you might want to partake in this fall, some of which can help you improve your overall health and wellness in Chandler, AZ:

  • Hikes: There are plenty of opportunities in the greater Phoenix area for you to get out and enjoy some great hikes during the fall. Within a reasonable driving distance you have South Mountain Park, the San Tan Mountains, Papago Park, the Desert Botanical Gardens, Camelback Mountain and much more. Even if you’re not interested in going on an extended nature walk, you can still get out and enjoy longer walks through your own local area!
  • Arizona State Fair: The Arizona State Fair runs from October 5 to October 28 in Phoenix, and promises to be fun for the entire family. There will be animals and livestock, fair rides and all kinds of food to sample—you’ll never leave with an empty stomach! This is a great chance to spend some time enjoying the nicer weather outside with your whole family.
  • Pumpkin patches: Do a quick Google search for pumpkin patches and you’ll find plenty of results in the local area that will give you an opportunity to take your family out to a nearby farm, pick a pumpkin of your choice and enjoy other fall-themed activities, such as hay rides, petting zoos, face painting, corn mazes and much more. It’s a great way to get into the fall spirit leading up to Halloween. What kid doesn’t have fun at a pumpkin patch?
  • Picnic in Tempe Beach Park: The Tempe Town Lake, a manmade lake made by reclaiming the Salt River waters, was officially opened in 1999. This two-mile-long reservoir is held in place by a series of inflatable rubber dams, and has become a popular excursion for people throughout the greater Phoenix area. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy—we encourage picnicking, but you can also enjoy the bike paths in the park, the sailing and cruising opportunities on the lake, the Splash Playground for children, the kayak and pedal boat rentals and the numerous outdoor celebrations and concerts held there every year, especially when the weather cools down.

These are just a few ideas for some fun outdoor activities you can take in this fall in the greater Phoenix area.
